Each year, there are thousands of accidents associated to forklifts that happen in the workplace. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has found out that the absolute majority of forklift injuries and property damage is due to inadequate or insufficient training, flaccid enforcement of health and safety rules and a lack of safe operating operation process. It’s a violation of federal law for anyone to maneuver a forklift without suitable OSHA forklift training certification from certified training provider like Model Safety Care Concepts, and the operator must be at least 18. In 1998, OSHA adopts a new standard on forklift training.

When Is An OSHA Refresher Course Mandatory?

An OSHA refresher course must be accomplished if the forklift operator has been in a “near miss” or an accident. OSHA Forklift training certification course is needed if the operator isn’t driving the forklift safely or has obtained an unfavorable rating. If the forklift operator is designated another type of truck or there are alterations in workplace impacting safe operation, an OSHA refresher course must be accomplished and the employer is required to certify the training and keep a record.
